Norwegian Maritime Officers’ Association

The Norwegian Maritime Officers Association was founded on January 1, 1995 following the merger of the Norwegian Shipmasters Association (established in 1889) and Norwegian Mates Association (established in 1910). It works for adequate wages and working conditions for Norwegian maritime officers, and officers of other nationalities aboard Norwegian-owned ships. The association campaigns internationally for better safety, environment and working conditions on the seven seas. The organization totals some eight thousand members. Their wages and working conditions are secured through agreements between the Officers Association and the Shipowners’ Associations and shipping companies. In addition to the head office in Oslo, the Union also has 2 local offices in Bergen and Alesund.
