Norwegian Seafarers’ Union
The Norwegian Seafarers’ Union was founded in 1910 and organizes seafarers of all categories in domestic and international trade and deep-sea fishing. The Union is affiliated to the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO). A Congress consisting of elected active seafarers who meet every fourth year governs the Union. Between the Congresses meetings a National Board and an Executive Board elected by the Congress run the NSU. The Union also has local offices in Miami, Florida and Yokohama, Japan. The Norwegian Seafarer’s Union also opened a Seafarer’s House in San Juan, Puerto Rico for seafarers that enter the port of San Juan.
